Overview of agrometeorological situation of January 16, 2026

The past snowfall has significantly increased the height of the snow cover. According to the latest data, snow height ranges from 10-20 cm to 30-45 cm in most of the republic. Such a snow cover is able to protect winter crops from the observed frosts. At the same time, in some areas in the west of the Brest region, the snow height is less than 10 cm, and damage to winter rapeseed by low temperatures is possible. Under high snow cover, the soil temperature at the depth of the tillering node of winter crops remains above optimal values.
In the near future, against the background of frosty weather, with sufficient snow cover, the agrometeorological conditions for wintering crops in most of Belarus will be satisfactory.
