In recent days, the weather has allowed for an acceleration of spring fieldwork. According to visual observations, the soil at a depth of 10 cm is well moistened. Soil temperatures are generally between +7°C and +11°C. At the same time, the contrasting temperature regime with nighttime frosts is affecting the growth and development of crops, hindering grass regrowth and the emergence of spring crop seedlings. According to the results of instrumental soil moisture measurements carried out at the end of the second decade of April, moisture supply for agricultural crops is sufficient over most of Belarus. In some areas of the Gomel and Brest regions, it is satisfactory due to a persistent precipitation deficit. In the near future, the agrometeorological situation will become more complicated due to an expected cold spell. Frosts will pose a danger primarily to flowering fruit crops.
