The results of instrumental soil moisture measurements have shown that in most of Belarus, the water supply for agricultural crops is sufficient. In the northeastern part of the country and in some areas in the east of the Gomel region, soil moisture reserves are increased. At the same time, in several districts of the Gomel region, on light soils, the available moisture reserves in the plow layer remain satisfactory.
According to the latest visual observations, the upper 10-centimeter soil layer is moderately moist, which is favorable for spring field work. The average soil temperature at a depth of 10 cm has risen and is now +5 to +8°C.
In the near future, due to rising temperatures, agrometeorological conditions for the growth and development of agricultural crops will improve, supporting good progress in spring sowing and the implementation of agrotechnical measures.
