Overview of hydrological situation of January 11, 2021

In the past period (January 6-10), due to a drop in air temperature, ice formation processes resumed on the country's water bodies.
As of January 11, ice formations in the form of banks and sludge passages are noted on the Sozh, a greater extent of the Western Dvina, Dnieper, Berezina and most of their tributaries. Freeze-up and freeze-up with openings is observed on the Western Dvina near the city of Surazh and the village of Ulla, its tributary to the Nacha River, and also on the Sozh tributary to the Besed River.
On the reservoirs Vileyskoye, Chigirinskoye, Zaslavskoye, Soligorskoye, Krasnaya Sloboda, lakes Lukomskoye and Drivyaty, ice cover is observed, however, the ice structure is not uniform, in some places there are polynyas, caution must be exercised when moving on ice. On the lakes Naroch and Chervonee, the coastlines are marked.
On the rivers of the country, fluctuations in water levels are observed with an intensity on most rivers of 1-11 cm per day, on the Western Dvina up to 30 cm per day. On the tributary of the Berezina, the Svisloch River near the village of Terebuty, the water level is above the mark of the water outlet to the floodplain.
In the coming days, due to the persistence of frosty weather, ice formation processes on the country's water bodies will continue. In the level regime of rivers, fluctuations in water levels will be observed, in places sharp, as a result of ice jamming.
