Overview of hydrological situation of February 25, 2021

In the past period (February 20-24), an increase in air temperature contributed to the opening and partial clearing of ice formations from certain sections of the rivers in the South and South-West of the country.
As of February 25, most rivers have freeze-up with a thickness of 5 cm to 35 cm. However, in the ice cover, spaces with an open water surface have increased, cracks and water on the ice have appeared. On reservoirs, freeze-up is noted with a thickness of 26 to 40 cm.
On the rivers of the South and South-West of the country, water levels rise with a daily intensity of 1-9 cm. On the rivers of the rest of the country, fluctuations in water levels are observed.
On the Viliya near the village of Steshitsy, the Dnieper near the town of Loev, a tributary of the Berezina River, the Svisloch near the village of Terebuty, the water levels exceed the mark of water outlet to the floodplain.
In the next five days, the synoptic situation will cause further melting of the ice cover and an increase in water levels on most of the country's rivers.
