Climate characteristic of July 2020

Average air temperature for July 2020 in Belarus was +18,3°С, that is for 0,1°С below climate normal. Such and lower temperature in June is observed every 2 years from the year 1881. In Vitebsk, Minsk, Mogilev regions deviations  from average month temperature from climate normal were negative, in Grodno, Brest, Gomel regions deviations are positive.

In terms of temperature month was heterogeneous. The first decade was warm with an average air temperature 1.1 °C above climate normal, the second and third decades were cold with an average air temperature 0.7 and 0.6 ° C below climate normal respectively.

During the month daily air temperature ranged from +18 to +28°С, with the exception of very warm days with the temperature of +28 – +32°С.Maximum value of air temperature for the month was registered on July 11 at Mozyr meteorological station (+ 32.7 ° С).    
Night air temperature ranged mainly from +11 to +20°С, but on some days at the beginning of the month in some places it dropped to + 10 ° С and below. Minimum value of air temperature was recorded on July 24 at Polesskaya station (+ 4.3 ° С).

68,1 mm of precipitation or  80% of climate normal fell out in July. Lack of precipitation was noted throughout the country, the smallest amount fell out in Grodno region - 40.2 mm or 47% of climate normal.   
Rains fell out mainly in the first and third decades, in some regions it reached the criterion of dangerous phenomenon, rains were accompanied by thunderstorms and hail in some places. In separate days of month wind gusps reached 20 m/s and more. Short fogs were noted in night and morning hours.
