Dry sunny weather with good air heating during the daytime contributes to the drying of the soil. At the same time, due to negative temperatures at night, the top layer of soil freezes slightly. Soil freezing over 15 cm remains in the northern part and in the east of the country.
According to the latest data, drying of the upper 10-cm soil layer to a moderately wet state is observed mainly in the southern regions of the republic. Despite a slight freezing of the upper layer at night, on dried soils, it became possible to till them, fertilize, carry out measures to close the soil moisture, sowing of early spring crops began in the southernmost regions. In the near future the area of dried soils will increase on the territory of the republic due to the continuing precipitation deficit.
