Overview of agrometeorological situation of August 26, 2022

Due to the very hot and dry weather, the agrometeorological conditions for the formation of the harvest of late crops have deteriorated. Areas with lack of soil moisture are expanding. In some places in Gomel and in the south-east of Brest region, soil drought has reached the criterion of a dangerous agrometeorological phenomenon. A difficult situation is developing for sowing and the emergence of winter rape seedlings, it is difficult to prepare the soil for sowing winter grain crops. In a large area, the upper 10-centimeter layer of soil is poorly moistened. In most of the territory of Vitebsk and Gomel regions, in many districts of Minsk, as well as in Mogilev and Brest regions, the soil at a depth of 10 cm is completely dried up.
In the coming week, the temperature regime in Belarus will decrease. The expected short-term rains will somewhat replenish the soil moisture content, but not everywhere.
