Overview of agrometeorological situation of August 19, 2022

Hot weather combined with a lack of precipitation increases the loss of soil moisture, especially from the upper layers of the soil. According to the latest visual observations, the upper 10-centimeter soil layer is poorly moistened in most areas. According to a number of weather stations, the soil at a depth of 10 cm is dry. This complicates its processing for sowing winter cereals, is unfavorable for sowing and germination of seeds of winter rape, intermediate crops. Good moistening of the upper 10-centimeter soil layer is observed only in places in the western half of the country. In the coming week, in most regions of the republic, the continuing shortage of precipitation and high temperatures will lead to further desiccation of the soil. Conditions for the formation of the harvest of late crops will worsen. At the same time, the weather will continue to facilitate harvesting operations.
