Information on exceedances of standards for ambient air quality

The state institution "Republican center for Hydrometeorology, control of radioactive contamination and environmental monitoring" informs about the exceedance of quality standards for pollutants in the air of the cities of the Republic for the period from may 31 to June 6, 2018.
In the air of Mogilev (Krupskaya lane) on may 31, the average daily concentration of solid particles and fractions up to 10 microns in size exceeded the quality standard by 1.5 times. The North-East wind was predominant at a speed of 1-4 m / s, relative humidity varied in the range from 28% to 70%, air temperature – from +12.5°C to +20.3°C. on June 2, the average daily concentration of solid particles in this area was 1.3 MPC. The South-West wind was predominant at a speed of 1-4 m / s, relative humidity varied in the range from 31% to 64%, air temperature - from +10,9°C to +24,9°C. On 4 June the daily average concentration of particulate matter, fraction size up to 10 microns amounted to 1.1 MPC. The West wind speed was 3-5 m/s, the relative humidity varied in the range from 23% to 66%, the air temperature – from +14.7°C to +28.9°C. on June 5, the average daily concentration of solid particles exceeded the quality standard by 2.5 times. North-West, West wind speed of 2-7 m/s prevailed, relative humidity varied in the range from 27% to 60%, air temperature - from +13,1°C to +19,1°C.
In the air, Novopolotsk (district Molodezhnaya street, 49) on June 4, the average daily concentration of solid particles, fractions up to 10 microns was 1.1 MPC. There was a West, South-West wind speed of 2-5 m/s, calm, relative humidity ranged from 39% to 86%, air temperature - from + 12.5°C to + 27.0°C.
On June 5, the average daily concentration of solid particles and fractions up to 10 microns in the air of Gomel (Barykina street) exceeded the quality standard by 1.2 times. The wind of variable directions was observed at the speed of 2-6 m/s, relative humidity varied in the range from 22% to 70%, air temperature - from +11,0°C to +19,9°C.
In the air of Rechitsa (the area of Molodezhnaya street) the maximum of one-time concentrations of solid particles (undifferentiated in composition dust/aerosol) was 1.3 MPC.
In the air of Minsk (district of Shabana street) the maximum of one-time concentrations of solid particles (undifferentiated in composition dust/aerosol) was 1.1 MPC. A slight excess of the quality standard for solid particles, fractions up to 2.5 microns in size was recorded in the area of Heroes Street 120 Division.
The main reason for the increase in the level of air pollution by solid particles is the lack of precipitation.
These measurements indicate an increased content of formaldehyde in the atmospheric air of Svetlogorsk and Brest. The maximum of one-time concentrations in the air of Svetlogorsk was 1.4 MPC. In the air of Brest (the streets of 17 September and Pushkin) the maximum concentrations of formaldehyde reached 2.2-2.5 MPC.
As a result of the fire at the landfill of household waste Borisov (Nemanitskiy s/s) at the monitoring points of atmospheric air with a discrete sampling mode, an increase in the content of pollutants in the air was recorded. On 31 may, at the sampling time (7 and 13 hours), the maximum concentrations of the measured pollutants were below MPC. However, due to the change of wind direction, which caused the transfer of pollutants from the source of ignition, the level of air pollution has increased significantly. According to measurements, in the evening (19 hours) in the area of the street. In 1812, the concentrations of nitrogen dioxide and phenol exceeded the quality standards in 1,3-1,4 times, in the area of Stroiteley street, 14 – 1,1-1,3 times. According to the results of observations on June 1, the maximum concentrations of the measured pollutants did not exceed 0.9 MPC.
