Climate characteristic of June 2018
Average air temperature in Belarus was +17,6°С in the first month of summer 2018 which is 1,2°С above climate normal. Positive anomaly spread throughout the country and maximum was on the territory of Grodno region (on average across the region +2,0°С), minimum was on the territory of Vitebsk and Mogilev regions (on average across the region +0,5°С).

It was warm during most of the month. Second decade was notably warm, average air temperature was 2,7°С above climate normal. In the first decade air temperature was 1,0°С above climate normal and only in the third decade it was close to the normal, however, temperature was 0,1°С higher.

Air temperature was in general within +10 +15 most nights, although air temperature at night fell up to 0 +5°С during short periods of cold snap. Minimum air temperature was registered at the swamp station Polesskaya on 7 June, slight frost on the soil surface was registered that night. Frost close to the soil surface at a height of 2 cm had wider coverage of the territory, they were observed mainly in central and southern areas, their intensity ranged from 0 to -3°С.
On average, across the country 53 mm of rain fell in a month representing 65% of climate normal. Rains fell unevenly throughout the country during the month. The least rainfall was registered on the territory of Grodno region - on average across the region 26 mm (33% of climate normal). Most of the rainfall was registered on the territory of Mogilev region during the month region - on average across the region 90 mm (114% of climate normal).

There was rainfall deficit in the first and second decade of June – 10% and 66% of climate normal respectively. Third decade was humid – there were 32 mm of rainfall on average across the country representing 113% of normal.

Rains were in general torrential with thunderstorms; in some areas they reached criteria of hazard: heavy rain with 71 mm of precipitation was observed in the area of meteorological station Berezino on 14-15 June. There was wind gusts to 15-20 m/s in certain days of month, maximum speed wind (20 m/s) was registered at the meteorological station Novogrudok on 22 June. There was fog of short duration during night and early hours of certain days. Sunshine hours in June were from 276 hours in Pinsk to 332 hours in Volkovysk at the rate of 252-280 hours.
