Climate characteristic of autumn 2019
Average air temperature of autumn 2019 was +8,8°С across the country that is 2,2°С above climate normal.
Deviation of average air temperature of autumn from climate normal (+6,6 ºС) across the Republic of Belarus
The highest values of positive deviations from climate normal were registered in Brest region (+2,5ºС), the smallest in Vitebsk region (+2,1°С). Such warm temperature is registered for the second time from 1945. The last time it was so warm in Belarus in 1967 and for the first time it was so warm in Brest region.
All three months were warm, especially November, when average air temperature was 3,3 ºС above climate normal. In September and in October respectively positive anomaly made up 0,7ºС and 2,8 ºС.
Average September temperature made up +12,8º С. Temperature regime was uneven during the month. First decade was very warm with +3,3°С above climate normal, daily temperatures made up +20 +28°С. Second decade was 0,5°С above climate normal. Temperature of third decade was 1,6°С above climate normal. During the coldest nights air temperature went down to negative values. Absolute minimum of air temperature was registered on September 24 in Bragin (-5,7°С). Absolute maximum of air temperature was registered on September 2 in Pinsk (+31,1°С).
Average air temperature and climate normal of autumn season in the Republic of Belarus 2019
The end of climate summer (average daily temperature transitions through 14 ° С to the lowering direction) took place on September 14-17; summer season lasted in 2019 on average four months in the country (from the second decade of May).
Average temperature in October made up +9,5°. First decade was cold with average temperature 0,8°С below climate normal. Second decade was anomaly warm with average temperature 6,0°С above climate normal. Air temperatures of third decade were 3,2°С above climate normal. In warm days of second and third decades daily temperatures exceeded 20 degree’s point and all over the county daily records were updated. Absolute maximum was registered on October 14 in Bragin (+24,8°С). Absolute minimum was registered on October 31 in Bobruisk (10,3°С).
The beginning of the heating period (a steady transition of the average daily air temperature through 8 ° С to the lowering direction) was carried out on October 28-29, which is one to two weeks earlier than usual.
Average daily temperature in November made up +4,2°С , which is 3,3°С above climate normal. Such warm temperature can be registered once every 15 years. First and second decades were very warm with average air temperature which was 5,1 and 5,6 °С above normal respectively. Third decade was cooler than usual with average air temperature 3,2°С below normal. Daily temperatures exceeded 5 degrees mark of first and second decades and in the warmest days of 1st and 2nd decades exceeded 5 degrees mark. In third decade daily temperatures ranged from -5 to +5°С. Maximum air temperature (+18,5°С) was registered in Zhitkovichi on November 4. Minimum air temperature (-11,1°С) registered in Bragin on November 25.
Steady transition of the average daily air temperature through 5 ° С to the lowering direction (end of vegetation period) on most of the country happened on November 15-21 almost one month later than usually. Only on the north (Ezerische) and on the north, north-east (Mstislavl) vegetation period ended on October 29, which is about week later than usual.
Amount of precipitations in autumn 2019 and climate normal across the regions and the Republic of Belarus
During autumn season precipitations made up 129.6 all over the county, which is 83% of climate normal lack of precipitation was on the most territory of the county, except Vitebsk and Minsk regions. In Vitebsk region fell out the biggest number of precipitation – 182,2 мм (104% of climate normal). The biggest lack of precipitation throughout the fall season was observed in the Gomel region - 93.1 mm (60% of normal).

In September fell out 87% of climate normal, 64% - in October, 98% - in November.
During September precipitations fell out in the form of rains and appeared mainly in first and second decade. Maximum daily amount of precipitations was registered on Navagrudak station on September 3 (40,0 mm). Storms were observed on places.
Precipitations in October fell out in the form of rains, in separate days snow and sleet were observed.
In first and second decades November precipitations fell out in the form of rains. On most of the territory of Vitebsk, Minsk, Gomel regions and on separate points of observations of Grodno, Mogilev, Brest regions snow cover of 0,1 and 2 sm appeared for a short time.
On separate days wind was strong with gusts of up to 15 m / s and more. Maximum value of wind speed (21 m / s) was registred on September 22 in Gorki. In some areas fogs thickened at night and in the morning. In some places icing phenomena were observed at the end of autumn.
